The University of MN Raptor Center came to town to present an educational program on raptor birds, at the Chisago Lakes Area Library Monday this week. The program was also at North Branch Area Library earlier the same day. Audience members got to see a chicken hawk, an American Kestrel, a Great Horned Owl and a Bald Eagle. The birds came to the Raptor Center with various injuries, were rehabilitated but for various reasons are not able to return to the wild. The program was made possible by Legacy Amendment funds authorized by vote of the people of Minnesota. The East Central Regional Library system holds a special event to mark when the summer reading program comes to an end.
