Old jail equipment being auctioned
Some of the old county jail kitchen equipment, sets of gently-used vehicle tires and miscellaneous items are being auctioned on-line now until the auction closes August 28.  The inspection is today (August 23) from 2 to 5 p.m.

Jim Jorgenson of JJ’s Auctions, North Branch, was authorized by the County Board to offer the Internet auction services, as part of the process of emptying out items from the old jail that are suitable to be sold to the general public.

Meanwhile,  a jail decommissioning task force has been named consisting of Center City and county officials, who will meet and analyze the best next step regarding the lakeshore property.  The County Board heard from  the county administrator Bruce Messelt that the group will consider options for the future of the facility--basically to be torn down and the lot cleared for sale or county re-use, or it can stay as-is and become “cold storage” maintained slightly above a non-freezing temperature for county files and other items.

Sheriff Report
Deputies were sent to an address on Mulberry Street in Taylors Falls August 13 about 11:45 p.m. on a report of an intoxicated male with a firearm. There was no weapon found, the man was allegedly violating probation and was brought in on that offense. Lakes Area Police also were on-site to help.

August 18 homeowner on Red Fox Run in North Branch had two bikes taken from the garage, bicycles are black and silver.

August 19 Lakes Area police were sent to an assault no longer in progress, with victims at an address on Wildwood Road. One person had lost a tooth. An arrest was made.

A counterfeit $100 bill was reported at a location in Lindstrom.

Zion Church in Chisago City had smoke in the building and when authorities arrived to check it out,  it was attributed to a malfunctioning pop machine. Incident reported about 7:50 p.m.

Lakes Area impound is holding two bicycles that were found abandoned over the week.  Call and describe to claim. One bike was in Lindstrom near the Free Church and the other on North Avenue.
