The History Center also houses geneology research materials, a library and a permanent display of items from local history.
Several years ago, when the Vietnam Memorial Wall travelling replica was set-up at the Chisago Lakes High School grounds; visitors left items at the wall that are also in the History Center exhibit.
There is a model airplane collection courtesy of Dennis and Dale Berry, Wyoming. Also from Wyoming--Neil Gatzow, a past historical society board chair, coordinated the exhibit. Rick Ekstrand, Chisago City, provided photographs, which have been enlarged.
The History Center is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays and Tuesday, from noon to 4 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Phone is 257-5310 if you need to set up an appointment.
If you have a collection you’d like to share or an idea for an exhibit-- society members welcome all inquires about exhibiting personal collections of a historic nature, the final say is up to the directors.
The next big event for the society will be hosting the Amador Apple Festival, in Almelund, at the historic one-room schoolhouse site. The festival is Sunday, September 16, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
