The senior led the team in scoring last year, but averaged just over 16 points per game. In Chisago Lakes’ season opening win against St. Croix Lutheran on Friday, November 30, Tinjum netted 30 points and the ‘Cats got nice offensive contributions from Alex Paulsen, Seth Thompson and Jackson Timm to run away against the Crusaders 91-78.
It was the first time Chisago Lakes has scored 90 or more points since the 2015-16 season.
The explosion started right away as the ‘Cats were amped up to open the season at home. They scored 49 points in the first half, racing out to a 15 point lead by halftime.
The ‘Cats keep a high offensive output in the second half, but their defense faltered a bit and allowed St. Croix Lutheran’s offense to get a bit more comfortable, but they still didn’t seriously threaten the lead Chisago Lakes’ had built up.
Tinjum scored the aforementioned 30, Paulsen had 16 points, Thompson scored 14, doing most of his damage from beyond the arc, and Timm scored 10. The ‘Cats even got a few nice supplemental scores from Zach Erickson, who scored seven, and Ryan Sanvik, who scored six.
