Janet was born on January 16, 1951 in Amery, Wisconsin to parents, William and Norma (Klopotek) Ruhlin.
She was raised in Almena, where she attended grade school and graduated from Barron High School in 1969. She went on to study accounting/bookkeeping at Rice Lake Vocational School where she met Gary Riley. They were married October 7, 1972 in St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Almena. She worked at St. Paul Radiology until 1980 at which time her second son was born and she then became a stay at home mom to raise her three children. She went back to work in 1988 as a paraprofessional for the Chisago Lakes Primary School, until retiring in 2013.
Janet loved sewing, crafts, flower gardening, and enjoyed baking. She was also interested in genealogy and liked researching her family history. She will be remembered by her family as a person who was selfless, cared about others, and was a good listener.
Janet is survived by her husband Gary; children, Sean (Tiffany) Riley of Rosemount, Daniel Riley of Lindstrom and Heather (Chris) Miller of North Branch; her sister Beverly (Kenneth) Zirul of Oakdale, and her three grandchildren, James, Gabby and Lily. She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Norma.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday July 31, 2018 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lindstrom with Rev. Terry Nordheim officiating. Visitation will take place at the church one hour prior to the service. Family interment will take place at a later date.
