There is a website that’s dedicated to updates and information about this regionally-significant project. As the work approaches and makes progress you can go to mndot.gov/metro/projects/i35northmetrosplit to see the latest.
The Minnesota Department of Transportion will be resurfacing the freeway between where Highway 97 intersects with the freeway in Forest Lake, northward to where Hwy 8 enters the system, directing commuters southbound.
That interchange access point is being tackled in 2019.
MnDOT representatives said activity preparing for this will be happening this summer. In 2018 you will see embankment work taking place where the Hwy 8 connection is made-- but it won’t be until 2019 that the bridge (or flyover ramp) now in use and lanes are replaced with what’s called a loop ramp.
This year the resurfacing on I-35 occurs along with the north half of the bridge being under construction at Forest Lake’s Hwy 97. Hwy. 97 remains open during this on the single accessible lane.
To contact MnDOT if you have concerns or questions during this two-year set of projects you shoould use the e mail address info@I35 North MetroSplit.com. Contact by phone is at 651-321-2499.
