The Chisago Lakes-North Branch Robotics Team 3038 directed cars looking for parking spots at the Apple Festival Sunday. Team volunteer coordinator Becky Leuer, commented the group has lined up civic projects to raise funds for the robotics program rather than selling candy or magazines, etc. The St Jude Medical financial support pretty much went away since the acquisition by Abbott; but robotics students have welcomed Wilson Tool as a program sponsor. The lost funding needs to be made-up, so if you have any interest in backing the robotics program, please contact Janel Korkowski at Sunrise River Elementary School in North Branch, 651-674-1143. The next fundraiser effort for the group, Leuer said, is selling tickets for North Branch Arts Fest in November. Robotics competes in various events against other school districts, and participants learn programming and remote control of devices they have designed and built, which are required to operate in a prescribed area and accomplish tasks.
