Lindstrom's landscape is changing, please donate your winter clothing
On Tuesday night, the meeting dragged all the way until midnight before the council finally made the decision to proceed with the project.
I was so impressed with the many creative and thoughtful points the majority made regarding the project and the city in general.
In the end the council voted to move forward on the project. I commend AnnMarie Brink for standing her ground and voting against. That is not to say I don’t agree with the other council members, but I think she deserves credit for being outnumbered and still holding ground.
Who knows what the final project will look like. I know one person who will have a front row (like 15 feet from my building) seat. Hopefully it is done tastefully in an inviting decor that enhances the city. We will see.
If you have kids, then you know what a pain it is to have to buy new coats, boots and mittens each year for your growing children. I also know that (if you are like us) you most likely have last year’s coats, boots and mittens lying in your closet collecting dust.
Why not donate them to a very worthy cause like the Kid’s Outerwear Fair--a non-profit group of people that disburse free winter gear to needy families who live in our neighborhoods. The fair runs mid-October so there’s still time for your donations to be accepted and used. Please bring your donations to Trinity Lutheran Church in Lindstrom or here to the Press and we will make sure a Chisago Lakes area kid will stay warm this winter.
On October 5 at the Chisago Lakes High School, there is a great event that helps a great cause. It is their annual Tackle Cancer Night at the football game. It just so happens it is also the big Homecoming game. Not only will you get to see a great football game, you can help fight cancer at the same time. There will be Tackle Cancer t-shirts and ballcaps available for purchase as well as green and gold beads for purchase. There will be a huge spread of food for purchase too, and 90 percent of all proceeds will go to fighting cancer in Minnesota. I hope to see you there!
