Chisago Lakes Superintendent Dean Jennissen, left, spoke during the groundbreaking for the Taylors Falls Elementary School projects.  Standing alongside are (retired) former supt. Joe Thimm and Taylors Falls Principal Jason Riebe, right.  The school projects, approved by voters in May 2017, include adding media center space, re-doing the main entry and upgrading restrooms in the elementary building.  This is part of a set of new construction underway in the district-- including the community fitness center and high school improvements in Lindstrom;  a new 2-5 grade school on Karmel Avenue in Chisago City, north of Hwy. 8, and tennis/pickleball courts already in use at the middle school.  District offices (in Scottsdale Mall Lindstrom right now),  are re-locating to the Karmel Avenue school when it opens next year, and district educational programs have moved into the middle school, where offices had been based, eliminating rented spaces.
