Al is survived by his wife Eleanor Gustafson Croone, his daughters Kirsten Croone and Kia Croone, his sister Betty Croone Johnson and his brother Ron Croone (Rita), nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
His journey through life began early with 4-H and carried on through his trip to the U of M Arboretum in the days before his death. Al lived the 4-H Creed: My head to clearer thinking, my heart to greater loyalty, my hands to larger service and my health to better living, which he applied to all aspects of his life, along with the 4-H motto “To make the best better.”
Al was an educator, principal and superintendent across Minnesota. Wherever he traveled his love of learning turned every place he went into a classroom for his family or anyone who was nearby. Those classrooms spanned the United States, Mexico, Greece, Iran and the many other places he journeyed to.
The Croones moved to Northfield in 1983 and purchased Northfield Greenhouse and Floral. Four years later, they opened the Paper Petalum at the Archer House. He was an active member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church and the Northfield community.
In Al’s world there were no strangers, just friends he had yet to meet. His smile and handshake welcomed all.

Visitation will be at the church one hour before the service. Sunday visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church. Lunch will be served at the church following the service. Burial will be at Lebanon Cemetery, New London, Minnesota at 3:30 p.m.
