Okay it's official - I am sick of the snow.  I have always been one that says I can take the snow but not the bitter cold temps.  My feelings are beginning to change.  It is one storm after another.  Now they say we are possibly going to have thunderstorms this week on top of all the snow? Someone is not happy with us.  Last week I wrote about bringing my ice auger for the May fishing opener, I have changed my thoughts about the opener. I may just fish off the ark or at the very least off the top of my house.

The one good thing about the end of winter is we have now entered into fish fry season.  I absolutely love fish fries.  We have one of the best in the county right here in Lindstrom. Not taking away from any other fish fries, but St. Bridget's Catholic Church puts on an amazing massive fish fry that is second to none.  It is a well-oiled machine with hundreds (at least it seems like) of volunteers cooking and serving some of the best cod you have ever tasted.  Of course it's all you can eat and is served with green beans, coleslaw rolls, ice cream and there is even meatless spaghetti for the finicky eaters.  The meal runs from 5-7pm every Friday.  See you there!

If you have a high school student who loves to fish, there is a great fishing club that focuses around the students and competing with other school of the same age kids.  The club is for kids grades 7-12 and trust me your son or daughter will have the time of their life.  They don’t need a boat, one is provided along with an adult to drive.  They mostly fish locally and the team even won the league last year.

If you want more information give Craig a call at 746-9388 or email him at [email protected].

Congratulations to the North Branch Vikings Boys Hockey team. The boys made it to the State Tournament at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul.  They beat rival Chisago Lakes in the section finals to earn their first berth in the tournament.  Quite a feat when you think the team doesn’t have a home rink, they play at Chisago Lakes Arena and other places during the season.

The kids met a tough opponent in their first game playing St. Cloud Cathedral.  They dropped a hard fought game which landed them in the consolation bracket where they defeated the Minnesota River Bulldogs - a co-op of southern schools such as St. Peter and Cleveland.  The Vikings beat the Bulldogs 5-2 and played in the consolation championship game against Delano.

Thanks to all who came out to see us at the Home Show last week. We have drawn our winners for the free subscriptions.   Margaret Sloan of Lindstrom and Dave Rosen of Center City have both won a year’s subscription to the Press.  If you already have a subscription, we will just tack it to the end of your sub giving you an extra year.
We had well over 400 entries this year.  Thanks to all who entered.
