May 3 some cardboard stored nearby a grinder in use caught fire, sending the Stacy-Lent firefighters to an address on Jewel Lane in Lent Township. Incident happened shortly after noon. No injury reported.
A crash off 325th and Furuby Road in Shafer Township, May 3, was discovered and called in about 4:30 a.m. Authorities found a car that had obviously sustained damage after having rolled, that was driven back up onto 325th and left empty. Registered owner was tracked down and no injury reported.
May 2 a report of a disturbance at Eric’s Canoe Rental called in about 9:20 p.m. Deputies responded to the Taylors Falls location and spoke with the owner who said some juveniles were where they shouldn’t have been, and he convinced them to leave the property. No injury resulted.
An acre or so of grass fire was extinguished after a debris pile got out of control in Rushseba Township. off 530th. Incident called in about 3:30 p.m. Property owner was ticketed due to burning restrictions not being complied with.
An alleged thief was apprehended inside the compound of PLC Towing in Shafer, May 2 about 3 a.m. Charges are pending.
May 2 North Branch Police responded to a call of a domestic incident at AmericInn, about 5 a.m. No injuries reported.
May 1 sheriff’s patrol took a complaint alleging patrons are violating the governor’s executive order affecting restaurant and retail establishments. The alleged offending business-- a rural pizza and winery outside of Harris-- states on their website it is open for takeout pizza and customers are allowed to “tailgate” on the property but are to maintain social distance.
Two crashes on May Day on Highway 8, neither with injuries. One was at East Viking/#36 about 6:20 p.m. and one was at County Road 14, about 1:25 p.m. State Patrol is writing and no details were immediately available.
Theft May 1 reported from Skilcraft, in Stacy. An enclosed trailer was broken into.
A truck was reported stolen from an address on 480th St. Harris. Contents included farrier equipment.
Wednesday, April 29 the local authorities and SWAT responded to a call of a firearm being used to threaten someone at an address, on Finley Avenue, in Wyoming. Report came in about 6:50 p.m. Male suspect, 59, eventually exited without incident and was apprehended.
Monday, April 27 a prohibited fire was ordered to be extinguished by Lakes Area Police, responding to a complaint in the Cedar Ridge area about 8:30 p.m. Property owner was cooperative.
ATV use near RidgePoint neighborhood, in Chisago City, resulted in an officer having a conversation with owner about laws regulating all terrain vehicle use. Incident call was at 8 p.m.
A potentially dangerous dog designation was given to an animal that had attacked another dog in the Minnesota Avenue area, in Lindstrom, April 27. The incident was reported around noon. The potentially dangerous dog designation triggers a host of special restrictions on containing the dog at the address, including posting the residence.
Area police participated in several drive-by birthday party parades over the week, ranging from young child to 96 years old.
