Cancellations are abundant; how about a good old fashion' car show?

This weekend would have been Hay Days. Yet another event we can check off as “maybe next year”.  We are running out of events to cancel around here.  All-in-all people have come to grips with the pandemic and are trying to keep a positive attitude about our new “cancelled” lives.  With everything closed or altered, you would like to think this would be a great time to catch up with old friends.  For whatever reason, that has not happened (with us anyway.)

Even if we are not consciously trying to social distance it seems that we are.  I think it could be from months of spending time alone.  It now feels (gulp) normal.  I am sure if you asked my wife she would tell you there is no one in the world more ready for this pandemic to be over.

A new study shows that only around 50 percent of Americans will get the vaccine once it’s approved by the FDA.  You had better get there days before if you want to be in front of my wife.

The team at Heartland Express understands that during these uncertain times, finding safe and reliable transportation can sometimes be difficult.

They strive to be a good community partner and want to make sure that everyone is able to utilize their services for their transportation needs. They may be restructuing but the program is still basically the same.

They are happy to have announced that you will not be charged for any rides for the remainder of 2020 (due to special funding). Whether you're going to work, school, shopping, a medical appointment, or just to visit family and friends, Heartland Express will give you a free ride through December 31, 2020. Call ahead 651-213-5790.

Many of you have been so gracious bringing your clothing in for the homeless shelters and battered women’s shelter.  In a matter of weeks we have collected two pick-up truck loads with clothing to be donated.  Unfortunately I have some bad news, as of this week, I have been notified that sites are no longer taking donations - at least for the time being.  So..if you have some clothing that you had planned on bringing us at the Press, I urge you to hold onto it for a while if possible. I will let you know when the donation places are open again.  Sorry-- and more importantly thank you for giving!

Saturday Ole’s Crossroads Bar and Grill in Shafer invites you to the second annual Car and Bike Show.  The show runs from 10am until 2 pm. If you attended the last car show at Ole’s you know these are no ordinary shows.  There were cars and motorcycles everywhere in Shafer.  If you are a fan of hot rods, you may want to come  check this out.  Bring your camera (or phone) because these cars are awesome.

If you have a car or a bike that you think would be a great fit for the show, you are encouraged to enter. The entry fee is $10 with prizes and giveaways all day long.

Call Marcus at 612-432-8290 to register or for more information.
