CL wrestling sees individual success but team results not there yet

As a team, the Wildcats struggled against some tough competition at last Friday’s Pierz Duals, going 0-4 for the tournament.
But they had some success individually, as both Connor Frederixon (215) and Logan Bender (285) went 4-0 for the day.
The host team beat the Wildcats 52-18. Taden Morley (127) decisioned Gauge Johnson 6-4, and Michael Amos (160) won 7-2 over Brayden Melby. Frederixon and Bender pinned their opponents. Frederixon completed the pin at 3:24 of his match with Wyatt Dingmann, and Bender took just 25 seconds to demolish Jack Byker. Bertha Hewitt defeated the Wildcats 54-15. Braxton Bender-Ehlke pinned David Verbenen at exactly the one-minute mark of their match. Frederixon won by forfeit, and Bender decisioned Braden Shamp, who is ranked seventh in Class A, 7-0.
Osakis won 60-12.
Frederixon pinned Andrew Ziesmer at 1:26, and Bender needed just 32 seconds to pin Gavin Muenzhuber.
In the seventh-place matchup, the Wildcats made it closer, losing 45-30 to Moorhead. Conner Aspenson (114) won by forfeit. Franklin Stark (139) won by fall over Micayah Garcia-Ortiz at 4:37. Aydin Lemke (145) pinned Joshua Beach at 1:20.
Frederixon won by forfeit, and Bender had his third pin of the day in the first period, finishing off Demarco Clay at 1:33.
Bender, ranked fourth in Class AA at 285 pounds, is undefeated at 8-0 for the season.
In their last action until after the New Year, the Wildcats will head north for the Rock Ridge/Mountain Iron-Buhl Tournament, to be held tomorrow at U.S. Steel Gymnasium, at Rock Ridge High School starting at 9 a.m.
