Awards night for a great group
I had the opportunity to attend the Chisago Lakes Area Community Foundation’s annual grant ceremony at Wild Mountain last Thursday night. The group has been around for a while now, but is truly making a difference in our community. This year the non-profit was able to hand out just over $37,000 in grants to deserving local groups to be used to better our community. They are such a special group that only has the best interest for the community as their goal. Thanks to all the women and men who give their time, fundraising abilities and hard work to make the foundation so great.
This Saturday at Chisago Lake Lutheran Church in Center City, AAA Recycling will be holding the yearly fall clean-up fundraiser. This is your last chance to rid yourself of clutter before the long winter sets in. Mark and his crew will be in the lower parking lot of the church and will do all the hard work - you simply just pull up, pay a small fee if needed, and they will remove all of your unwanted stuff.
The bridge to Osceola is about to close for a long time. The Minnesota and Wisconsin Department of Transportation will be replacing the bridge in its entirety beginning mid-October. I can’t speak for you, but we are a household that uses that bridge multiple times per week. Drivers will now be asked to cross the river at St. Croix Falls and head south on Wisconsin Highway 35 to get to Osceola. Easily adding an extra 20 minutes to anyone’s commute. It had to be done, I remember driving over the existing bridge and seeing holes that I could look at and see the water below.
