Commissioners OK 10 dog max at Fish Lake kennel address
A permit to allow for 10 dogs maximum on a property on Badger Boulevard in Fish Lake Township got a unanimous okay from commissioners last week. The application had been reviewed a couple times and was revised to exclude the “commercial” operations.
Beth Gervais, county Environmental Services, presented the permit action and said there will be no retail, or storefront operations taking place on the property and updated information does not support any commercial kennel function under State of MN standards.
Earlier testimony at public hearings also expressed some concern about conditions addressing a pay-to-visit dog park on the 40 acres, but the latest staff information advised commissioners there is no for profit exercise area being offered.
The applicants may also have two litters of puppies on site but they must be removed by the age of four months.
The personal kennel permit expires whenever Sheryl Bearhart or the landowner Jordan Waggoner are no longer involved in the property.
