KOD to Wanningan Days
What a perfect weekend we had for Karl Oskar Days. Weather was great, everyone was out and about and having a great time. Thanks to Pauline and her amazing staff of volunteers and to the city workers who did a great job prepping the city for such a fun event.
Congratulations to the New ambassadors Sam Johnson, Tori Newman, Lana Glenna and Maggie Kappelhoff. I attended the coronation and the girls will make wonderful ambassadors for the Chisago Lakes area. Congratulations to Alayna Peltola who was last year’s ambassador and will represent Chisago Lakes at the Minneapolis Aquatennial celebration later this summer. Finally congratulations to local resident Dionne Kabat on winning the Honorary Commodore Award presented by the Minneapolis Aquatennial Royalty.
I hope you had a chance to take in the car show at St. Bridget’s church on Saturday. That was by far and away the biggest car show I have seen in the county ever. There were cars everywhere and even more people enjoying them.
Now to the snuff box hunt.... yes the same folks found it that have found it five of the last six years. Thanks to all who searched high and low for the snuff box. There were people everywhere searching. We have all of the clues on page 8 with the actual ‘clues’ in each clue in bold. If it makes you feel any better the Dahl family spent just over 100 hours looking.
The parade on Saturday was fantastic; really long and filled with some great floats. It’s always fun to watch friends and neighbors line the streets all laughing and having a great time during the parade.
This weekend the local festivities continue. The good folks from Taylors Falls invite you and your family to the annual Wannigan Days celebration.
Friday evening there is a great car show held at the Fire Hall —in the lower parking lot. At 6:30pm there is bingo at the community center and Austin Healy takes the stage at 8pm next to Romaynes.
Saturday there are great deals to be found sidewalk shopping. The day begins with a lumberjack breakfast held at the community center from 8-11am. There is a kiddie parade that starts at 6pm and runs on main street to be immediately followed by the super-popular parade that begins in St. Croix Falls and ends by the Drive-In. There is a dunk tank that will run all day Saturday as well. The night caps off with Show Me Your Hits taking the big stage at 7:30pm.
