Law Enforcement

July 11

Lakes Area Police took a call that a man had set up an on-line date with an individual who was to meet him at the South Center Lake boat access, but instead the complainant was allegedly stabbed and robbed.  The victim said two males arrived at the landing about 10:40 p.m. July 11,  a struggle with a knife ensued and they had fled the scene.  The victim, 27, suffered minor cuts and called authorities from his residence. Soon after, police located the two suspects, in their vehicle crashed at Hwy. 97 and Olinda, in Washington County.  One suspect, Saia Solomon D’Silva, 19, from Farmington,  is charged with aiding and abetting assault and aggravated robbery, and the driver, 20, from Woodbury remains hospitalized.

July 12

County deputies were dispatched to a report of a suspicious vehicle at an address on Goose Creek Road, Harris about 5 a.m.  There reportedly was an active burglary and authorities were able to arrest two suspects.

The Shafer Post Office was damaged when an interior door was discovered “smashed.”  The storm door was opened and this was able to be secured and the facility was locked down.  The property damage incident was reported at 6:45 p.m.  The head postal staffer said there were no associated damages or theft.

The Lindstrom store “Nick and Drew’s” was the scene of a small electrical fire that smothered itself. The store was closed as repairs are being done. A person came upon the scene about 7 a.m. and said the fire seemed to be contained to a freezer but requested firefighters to come make sure nothing was smoldering.

July 13

Deputies were sent to Kost Dam Park about 8 a.m. to deal with overnight campers.  The group was made up of juveniles who said their parents dropped them off the night before.  They were advised the parks close at 10 p.m.  This also goes for people who are searching for a place to view the northern lights, parks are not open late at night.

July 14

Lakes Area Police made a warrant arrest at an address on Mentzer Trail, about 3 a.m.

A scam involving a caller claiming to be from the FTC was reported.  The caller told the citizen in Fish Lake Township to buy three $500 gift cards to Walmart and a car would come by at a specific time and collect the cards.  They did not buy the cards.

July 16

County law enforcement initiated a traffic stop on a driver near Glacier Drive and Old Hwy. 61 in North Branch and found a 14 year old behind the wheel.  This was at 2:45 a.m.  Parents were alerted and there was a ticket for no drivers license issued.

If you have had a bike go missing, the area police departments retain abandoned or stolen bikes for a while at their storage units.  Be sure to call your local agency if you are looking for your bike.
