Lots of stuff happening this weekend, Community Guide is out Saturday
This is the last week of our annual subscription renewal campaign. We have had a great turnout so far with the majority of readers sending their renewals in already. If you have been meaning to but have maybe forgot about it, I would encourage you to do so soon. We have a small grace window that our software allows where you will get the paper, but then it will automatically cut you off without a payment. It’s something I hate to do, but it does cost us money to print and mail the paper so subscriptions are vital to our operations. You can certainly send your payment of $49 in county or $51.50 for out of Chisago County to: PO Box 748, Lindstrom MN 55045. You can simply call us at 651-257-5115 or sign up online at www.chisagocountypress.com. And again, from the bottom of my heart, thank you for reading!
This Saturday the folks at Winehaven Winery invite everyone out to their super-popular barrel tasting event. It’s your chance to taste the newest wines of the year. You can also enjoy my favorite wine slushies from six different types of wines. There will be vendors along with food trucks and live music from “Walden Pond.” The event runs Saturday and Sunday.
Also taking place on Saturday is a meat bingo. The Chisago Lakes Masonic Lodge is holding a bingo that features 19 meat winning packs with a grand prize of a Blackstone stainless steel griddle. Those things are amazing - you may see me there trying to win the griddle. The bingo will be held at the Lindstrom Community Center with doors opening at 10:30 am. Proceeds will go towards the Chisago Lakes High School Scholarship Fund.
This weekend many of you will get the 2023 Community Guide in your mailboxes. We will do another mailing next week. The guide is the culmination of months of hard work by Jeff, Laure and yours truly. It is 100 pages filled with great information about the Chisago Lakes Area along with 20 plus pages of business contact information. We started this guide in 2005 and our frst year it was 28 black and white pages. It has grown to 100 pages of full color filled with wonderful ads from local businesses making the guide a perfect reference tool. Realtors hand out the guide to potential home buyers and the guide can be found in most waiting rooms at all kinds of businesses. If you happen to not get the guide in the mail, I encourage you to stop by the Press and pick up a copy. We hope you enjoy the guide as much as we enjoyed putting it together.
One last Saturday event for you to consider. At the Uncommon Loon there will be a presentation called Navigate to a Cleaner Lake.
Sponsored by the Center Lakes Association, this is an open house to learn more about the health of local lakes, shoreline impacts including landscaping, aquatic invasive species, improving water quality and much more. The event runs from 2-4pm and there will be door prizes available. The event is free.
Check out page 6 for information on the annual Memorial Day Paddle. These folks do this every spring and all of the public is invited. Grab your kayak, canoe or paddleboard and meet at Ojiketa Park at 9am. Or join them at later times in the day along the route. Simply scan the QR code for times and places.
