Halloween is upon us
This weekend is the big one before Halloween. There is still plenty of time to take in the scary “Ojiketa Haunt” which runs Friday and Saturday evenings at 7pm to 9:30pm. Cost is a mere $5 per person or $3 if you bring a food shelf donation (non-perishable please). We have been to Ojiketa Haunt multiple times over the years and it is a fun event.
Saturday at Ojiketa beginning at 2pm, is the super-popular “Falloween” event. Dress your kids up in their costumes and head out to the park, south of Chisago City off Old Towne Road. There you will find a great family environment that will feature pony rides, a pumpkin hunt, a magic show, a costume contest where winners will be awarded silently (so your shy child won’t have to go up on a stage), tons of games, snacks, crafts, a not-so-scary haunted house and trick-or-treating. The event is always very well attended and the weather has for the most part cooperated in the past. But if it is chilly, please dress your children accordingly.
Trinity Lutheran in Lindstrom invites you to attend their annual Outerwear Fair starting today, Thursday, October 26. Coats, hats, snow pants, boots, and other winter outerwear have been collected and are available to those who need these items. There is no charge to anyone. Just sit in your car and someone from Trinity will bring you a form to fill out stating what you need, and will call you into the church for your turn to shop.
The Outerwear Fair will be open Thursday, October 26 from 2-7, Friday, October 27 from 2-7 and Saturday, October 28 from 9-12 noon. Come get your warm, outerwear items to prepare for Winter. These folks are here to help!
This Friday (tomorrow) grab your kids for Trick-or-Treating on Main Street. The event runs from 4-6pm and is centered in Memorial Park by the chamber. Your kids can go up and down main street collecting goodies form store owners as well as some fun in the park. Wear your costumes!
In our last paper there was a letter submitted to us that had cited schools and their salaries from a website people are finding questionable. The reference was that our teacher’s salaries are 35 percent higher than others but failed to include which others. The website data is muddy at best and could be interpreted in many ways.
