A disturbing message appeared spray painted on a residential garage door early this week, and North Branch authorities are looking for leads.

The vandalism, which was a vulgar slur spray painted onto a white garage, occurred  off 381st Street in North Branch sometime overnight on Tuesday.

North Branch Police Chief Dan Meyer tells the Press investigators are hoping for a lead to be generated from the police Facebook post seeking suspects responsible for the hate graffiti.  Efforts were underway immediately to cover the message and lend support demonstrating the community abhors this type of behavior.

The police have no productive tips at this time, Meyer said.  They posted notice on the department Facebook page asking citizens to report anything they may know about the property damage.

The North Branch department phone number is 651-674-8848.  If you call after business hours the law enforcement communications center will answer and can take a message at 651-257-4100.

The Press has decided to include a heavily edited picture of the vandalism below to show the size and scope of the crime.
