Thanks to the group of people who took time out of their beautiful weekend last Saturday to build some loon nest platforms.  The man made floating nests are complete and will be installed on North and South Center Lakes.  Besides being our state bird, loons hold a special place in Minnesotans’ hearts.  Just take notice if you are around water and happen to hear a loon call.  Look at the expression of those around you, everyone stops to listen and a conversation usually follows.  So to encourage nesting and increase our loon population is wonderful news.

If you have not gotten your Chisago Lakes Lions Cadillac Dinner tickets yet, I would encourage you to do so soon.  The event is on May 4 and coincides with the Kentucky Derby.  Held at the Uncommon Loon, the event  doors open at 4:30pm with the running of the roses broadcast live around 5:30pm.  The Dinner and festivities will begin at 6pm.  There are only 100 tickets sold and while they are $150 per couple, Grand Prize for the evening will be $1,500 with second place taking home $500 and third place with $250.  There will be raffles as well as a silent auction. You can get your tickets from any local Lions member  or call us here at the Press and we will connect you with a Lion.

We are getting ready to take our last warm clothing donations to the shelter,  so if you have some clothes that you have been meaning to donate, please either bring them in here to the Press or give us a call and we can come pick them up.  Our phone number is 651-257-5115.  Thanks for giving.

The North Branch Chamber of Commerce invites you to the Spring Fling April 25.  Held inside the Outlet Mall in North Branch the event features some of the area’s best food and wine vendors, all set to 80's themed music and entertainment.  Enjoy food, wine, or non-alcoholic beverages, games, open bar, raffles, silent auction items, and door prizes. Cost is $30 at the door and begins at 5pm.  Sounds like a blast.
