Wyoming Council straightens out precinct misinformation
With member Brett Ohnstad out of town participating in the city council session remotely, Wyoming City Council approved a resolution to officially correct city precinct information that was distributed incorrectly for the presidential primary back in February.
Council heard the glitch didn’t seem to impact voter turnout and election judges report voters arriving at their correct polling spot, eventually, after their addresses were matched with the correct precinct.
The issue council set straight last week corrects polling place A and B — which were inadvertently switched— so those who were supposed to vote at St. Paul Lutheran may have gone to Maranatha Church mistakenly.
Maps displayed on the city, state and county websites reportedly had the precinct designations incorrect, too.
Officially from here on, those in Precinct A will vote at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 5879 Wyoming Trail. Those in precinct B will cast ballots at Maranatha Church, 24799 Forest Boulevard. Precinct B contains a larger population, hence the bigger location.
To reinforce the information, postcards will be mailed approaching the November general election with the correct precinct stated.
Council also offered to help facilitate getting information to property owners on Greenway Lane (near the former Hult survey building) who stated in open forum, they have not been included in any notifications regarding the Highway 8 reconstruction effort. They somehow heard a new frontage road alignment may affect their land and said they just want to be added to whatever list is used for contacting affected parties.
