2024 Election Candidate Filing Open
Filing is open for anyone interested in being on a ballot this fall. The filing runs to August 13 for city council, school board seats, and Nessel Township holds its election in November, unlike the other townships which vote in March of every year.
In the Chisago Lakes School District there are three seats expiring, held now by Lori Berg, Brenda Carlson and Jeff Lindeman.
North Branch School District Board has three seats on the ballot too: held by Tim MacMillan, Shelly Johnson and Heather Naegele.
School Board filing is at each district administrative offices. City halls house the clerk where you go for filing.
Staggered City Council seats and two-year mayor seats expire.
Center City has balloting coming in November for a two year mayoral term and two at large four year council positions.
Chisago City has two council seats opening and a special election (ballot selection) is needed to fill out the mayoral term through Dec. 2026.
Lindstrom is electing a mayor for two years and two four-year city council seats along with a special ballot selection for a council term that goes to Jan. 1, 2027.
Shafer is not electing a mayor this year but does have two city council seats expiring. These are four year terms.
North Branch mayor and two city council members are holding seats that expire at the end of 2024.
Stacy is implementing a process set in motion when the Lent Township merger was authorized. This November voters need to have a candidate who resides in the old Lent Twsp area for one expiring council seat and a candidate who resides in the traditional Stacy City area, prior to the merger for a second seat. Both are four year terms. Stacy also has an expiring two year mayor seat.
Taylors Falls election will offer two city council candidates for four-year seats and the mayor is up for election.
Wyoming City has its mayor on the ballot and two city council seats are expiring.
Nessel Township is unique in that it holds supervisor balloting with the general election. The other townships vote on the same day as their annual meetings in March. Nessel has three seats that are four year terms, on the ballot.
