Roger W. Spencer, age 78, of Center City, Minnesota, passed away on July 26, 2024. Roger was born on February 16, 1946 in Elbow Lake, Minnesota to parents Arthur and Irene Spencer. He was Captain of the Elbow Lake High School wrestling team. Roger was a hard working, strong willed, good provider, and proud Teamster. He worked many years for Shafer Contracting until he retired in 2008.
Family was everything to Roger. He met the (love of his life) Marlene Auchampach at a dance hall in Ellsworth, WI. They married August 6, 1966 and shared over 41 years together until she passed in April 2008.
He was very proud of his children and especially his grandchildren, watching all of them grow and participate in activities and sports.
Roger enjoyed having company, whether it be a long visit at home or meeting someone new. He was very social and would talk to anyone. Some of the activities he loved to do were go dancing, fishing, hunting, and visit family and friends often.
He is preceded in death by his wife Marlene, daughter Charlotte Hollander, sister-in-law Linda Spencer, and his parents Arthur and Irene Spencer.
Roger is survived by his children Lisa (Jeff) Shaleen, Scott Spencer, Christine (Brian) Smith, and Jason (Lacie Mae) Spencer; son-in-law Todd Hollander; Fiance Dawn Lobejko; grandchildren Andy (Toni) Shaleen, Alex Shaleen, Cole and Sara Smith, Shane Hollander, Margene, Henry, and Hazel Spencer; siblings David (Lynda) Spencer, Jim (Lila) Spencer, Lester (Gerry) Spencer, Art Jr. Spencer, Bonnie Kollmann, LaWayne (Ralph) Danzl, and Dean (Bill) Spencer, and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 1, 2024 at St. Bridget of Sweden Catholic Church in Lindstrom. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 31 from 4-7 p.m. at the Grandstrand Funeral Home in Lindstrom and one hour prior to Mass at church on Thursday. Interment will be held at Franconia Cemetery. Arrangements are by Grandstrand Funeral Home in Lindstrom. Condolences may be expressed online at www.grandstrandfh.com
