Threshing Show is this weekend, what are they doing at the motel?
Over the weekend, I visited Stacy Daze a couple of times and let me just say - wow. That was the most people I can remember at Stacy Daze. The city was packed! The park was packed with people all weekend whether it was for the talent show or the massive car display or live music, there were people everywhere. Congrats to the City of Stacy on a wonderful event that didn’t let a little rain on Saturday get in the way.
This weekend we have another event for you, the 68th annual Almelund Threshing Show.
I know I write this every year, but if you haven’t attended the Threshing Show you at least have to try it once. It is literally a walk back in time. The historic old buildings are all functioning and the public can walk through them. The show is filled with history and appreciation for the women and men who have farmed Chisago County and supported agriculture for decades and decades.
They are excited to announce a new building onsite that features livestock along with a kids petting zoo. Also new this year you can see horse pulls on Saturday at noon.
Friday and Saturday night there is a dance with live bands featuring Up South and Hollywood Blvd. They play in the beer garden building and as someone who has attended more than one of these, trust me they are a good time. Please see page 12 for a detailed advertising of the show and events.
Many of you have watched the old rundown motel in Center City transform over the last year or two, and wondered what it was becoming. Nic and Sarah Kirvida have turned a once blighted property to a beautiful boutique motel Nordic Harbor, with a convenience store and a beautiful rooftop space. You are invited this Sunday for their ribbon cutting to come and see this revitalized property. I see it every day and I also see how hard they have worked, come on out and see for yourself. The event runs from 2-6 pm.
