Wyoming staff see wages adjusted after salary survey
In a less than half-hour long meeting, officials approved a pay adjustment last week for non-union staff in the City of Wyoming.
Based on a compensation study done by David Drown & Associates, council agreed 4-1 to do a cost of living adjustment of three percent and a “market rate adjustment” increase of four percent for 2025.
Council member Linda Nanko Yeager opposed the market rate action because she didn’t see the gap in Wyoming market rate pay identified by the consultant, at less than five percent, as “significant.”
Mayor Lisa Iverson commented that she supports the action to attract staff and “keep the good ones we have.”
Council also accepted a delinquent sewer and water accounts list that totals $99,876 as of the adoption. Sometimes a few late accounts get paid off immediately after council acts on remaining late payments being certified to property tax.
The application for a preliminary and final plat for a watershed district stormwater project got the okay. The lot being created is for a Comfort Lake-Forest Lake stormwater project on Heath Avenue, south of Highway 8.
The council was advised by Public Safety Director and Chief of Police Bauer that the county hazard mitigation plan update was out for comment. ( The deadline was December 2.)
Chief Bauer said Wyoming public safety and administrative staff were involved in drafting of the plan, and will continue to be informed of community wildfire mitigation, and other ongoing hazards as grants and programs develop. The hazard mitigation plan assesses locality specific risks for fire, weather related, loss of power, flooding and other hazards. Bauer said Scott Sellman is overseeing finalizing the document and any suggestions they should let him know. Sellman is the County Emergency Management and Homeland Security Director.
