Both the Jazz and Kick dance teams are headed back to the state tournament for the third year in a row.
The squads each finished in third place at the Section 2AA competition on Saturday, February 3. In both events, private schools Totino-Grace and Benilde-St. Margaret’s finished ahead of the ‘Cats and will be joining them at state on Friday and Saturday, February 16-17 at the Target Center in Minneapolis.
“This years team motto has been ‘Win How.. Together! Lose How.. Together!’,” coaches said after the meet. “The fight these athletes exude on Saturday coming together with one common goal pushed them.”
Despite coming in third in both events, the Wildcats were clearly cemented in those spots, with the Jazz team finishing 43 points ahead of fourth place and the Kick team finishing 82 points in front of their next closest competitor.
The state meet will be next weekend, with the Jazz competition to be held on Friday, February 16. Class AA qualifying competition begins at 2 p.m. and goes to 4:15, with the finalists announced immediately after.
The High Kick schedule will follow the same schedule, but will be on Saturday, February 17.
