Anna and Maren Dahl have been foundational rocks for the Chisago Lakes girls’ alpine ski team all year, and the pair really came through in the Section 7 meet at Giants Ridge Tuesday, February 6.
Anna, who is a junior and the younger of the two, finished in third place overall with a total time of 1:25.33. She crushed the Helsinki Course by finishing in fourth place with a time of 42.99 seconds. She stayed consistent flying down the Innsbruck Course, coming in seventh place with a time of 42.34 seconds, which earned her the third place spot and a berth at the state meet.
For Maren, her last shot at state as a senior left her with an eighth place finish on Innsbruck and a 12th place finish on Helsinki. Her consistency advanced her to the state meet. Maren’s time on Innsbruck was 42.40 seconds while her pace down Helsinki was 44.82 seconds.
The Dahls both took to the slopes earlier this week after the Press went to deadline,, traveling back up north for the state meet, also held at Giants Ridge in Biwabik. The meet was Tuesday, February 13.
Ruby Fasbender was the next top finisher for state for CL. She finished in 40th place overall with a time of 1:38.45. Aisha Roche finished in 51st with a time of 1:44.10. Anna Hageman and Lily Hubbard rounded out the varsity scores for the ‘Cats.
As a team, the girls took fourth place in the event.
For the boys, Martin Cyr finished just outside of the state meet qualification window. The sophomore came in 18th place with a combined time of 1:24.65. He was just a little more than a second outside of qualifying.
Rhett Reed came in 29th place, Orval Cyr had a hiccup on Innsbruck and fell to 38th overall despite finishing 14th on Helsinki and Alex Litterer finished in 61st place.
As a team, the boys finished in sixth place in the event.
