Happy 4th of July! On to one of our largest celebrations - KOD
I hope you and yours had an amazing Fourth of July. Judging by the boat traffic on all of the lakes, it looks like people are taking the entire week to celebrate the Fourth. We drove past the channel a couple of times, and there was always a boat either coming or going to North Lindstrom. It would be amazing if the water levels could remain this high so the five lakes could be navigated all summer long.
I honestly think we would see a business or three pop up on the lakes, much like Center City has nicely done. Can you imagine a nice bar/ restaurant where the Dinnerbel/Meredee’s stands now? With five lakes, as well as automobile traffic, it would be a gold mine waiting to happen. Heck, it would even attract snowmobilers in the winter as well as ice fishermen. Yep, I have all of the bright ideas, I just lack the capital to make them come to light... story of my life.
Next week is Karl Oskar Days. Yes, the summer is flying by unfortunately. The festival officially kicks off on Wednesday with the farmers market and Harmony in the Park. Thursday, from 3-9 p.m. grab your girlfriends, moms and daughters for the popular Diva Party. You will find hundreds of specials in Downtown Lindstrom as well as fun giveaways and a ton of fun. You can register with the QR code in this edition on the schedule of events or at Winehaven or many downtown businesses will have the code in their windows. At 6 p.m. you are invited to Lions Park for the Ambassador coronation. We have four wonderful and talented girls vying for Miss Karl Oskar Days this year. Come on out and support them.
Friday, Lindstrom will be lined with a huge sidewalk sale and at 1 p.m. there is a photography show at the Chamber office. At 2 p.m., the Karl Oskar Days fair officially opens at Beach Park with vendors, games and of course great food. At 6 p.m. come to Memorial Park (by the Chamber) for a concert from an awesome musician Matt Glenna. Head back to Beach Park for fireworks at 10 p.m. Bring bug spray.
I will write more about the events in the next edition.
Now to the important stuff - no not the train wreck of a presidential debate. I am referring to the Karl Oskar Snuff Box Hunt.
Once again with many thanks to our partners Wally Carlsons Amoco, Deutschland Meats and the City of Lindstrom, the lucky finders of the snuff box will win $1,000. Clues will be posted daily at noon at the Press, Wally Carlsons and Deutschland Meats. The box will be hidden on public property so please honor private property. I can’t tell you what it looks like, but when you find it, you will know for sure. Read the clues carefully.
If you happen to find it, call the number in the box or the number posted on the clues. Good luck, happy hunting, and may a new group find it this year!
