What a fantastic weekend it was for Karl Oskar Days!  Except for 30 minutes of rain that unfortunately cancelled the Loppet;  but other than that, it was smooth sailing.  Crowds were huge, and the parks with the vendors were packed.  The parade had beautiful weather and the streets were lined with parade goers.

Congratulations to the snuff box finders this year, Liam Hall and his sister Annika and brother Logan, who found the snuff box late Friday afternoon.  They have looked for the snuff box for years and have even found it once before.  If you happened to look for the snuff box, here are some of the clues that directed hunters to the snuff box.  Garden - the Lindstrom community garden is close to the location, Sirens - the fire station and  EMS station are very near. The color white - Plastic Products painted their building white from yellow not long ago.  Blue - color of the mail box where the snuff box was hidden, and according to Liam, racquetball - directly across the street is the old Lindstrom Racquetball Courts in operation in the late 80’s and early 90’s.

Thanks so much to all of the wonderful volunteers who worked tirelessly to make this year’s event such a success.

Thanks also to all of the past queens and royalty that helped make this year’s queen coronation that much more special.

Next week, Winehaven has something really neat that I think people may love.  They are hosting a three day event of “Shakespeare In the Vines.”  You will be treated to a two hour performance of Shakespeare in a beautiful setting while enjoying some of Winehaven’s wonderful wines.  Tickets can be purchased online at winehaven.com.

This weekend is Taylors Falls’ and St. Croix Falls’ turn in the spotlight.  Wannigan Days runs this Friday through Sunday and is packed with events on both sides of the river.

Friday, the very popular car show at the Taylors Falls Fire department begins at 5pm.  They will have food and beverages for you to enjoy as you daydream about all of the beautiful hot rods at the show.  Just down the street at Taylors Falls Community Center, (old depot) everyone is invited to come play cash bingo.  The games officially begin at 6:30 p.m. with snacks and beverages available to purchase there. The Jorgensens take the stage at 8pm for the street dance.

Saturday, after you take in a wonderful lumberjack pancake breakfast at the TF Community Center (8-11 a.m.), come and dunk Chisago County Sheriff Brandon Thyen at the dunk tank.

At Wannigan Park next to the Drive-In there will be lumberjack shows at noon and 2 p.m. as well as a great petting zoo and bouncy houses for the kids.

Kids line-up for the kiddie parade which begins at 5:45 p.m. at the Chisago House (corner by Caseys) with the grand parade starting in St. Croix Falls at 6 p.m.

As always, all of the great stores that line downtown main street Taylors Falls will be open and ready for business.  Please stop in and see these great folks.

This is the week we cut off any subscribers who have yet to renew your subscriptions.  All you have to do is go online at chisagocountypress.com or call us here at 651-257-5115 or send a check for $49 to Chisago County Press, PO Box 748, Lindstrom MN 55045 and we will get you up and running again.  As always, thanks for reading!
