Cast your vote this Saturday
If you had planned on voting early like me and just can’t seem to make it work with your busy schedule, you are in luck. This Saturday, the Government center in Center City will be open for early voting. You can cast your ballot from 9am to 3pm. There are plenty of signs directing you to the correct area.
Thanks to all the participating businesses in Lindstrom who held their annual Trick-or-Treat in Downtown last Friday. The sidewalks were jam packed with kids all having a great time.
Another huge thanks goes out to Chisago City for hosting the annual Ojiketa Haunt and the kids’ not so scary Falloween events. They have created such a fun event for kids filled with so many fun things for kids to take part in. I have seen this event grow from the beginning and it blows me away how huge it has gotten. Chisago City and all of their volunteers do such a wonderful job.
You may notice in this Press we only ran positive letters to the editor. We have always done this because there isn’t a follow-up paper allowing to refute any accusations that may have been brought against someone.
Thanks for the kind words that I have received over the last week regarding my column about getting verbally abused. I did not write about it to draw sympathy, rather to point out just how out of control this political season has become. The one thing that I have learned over the years here is how to bite my tongue. If you would have verbally attacked me 20 years ago, we would have had it out. Now, I just let you say your piece and move on.
If you have seen a boat on the water recently that looks like it is shocking fish, you have. That’s the Chisago County Environmental Services/Lake Improvement District group along with some researchers from the U of M looking for Carp. Before I write something that is incorrect, know that they will be submitting a write up about their study, probably for the next paper.
Remember folks, the Chisago Lakes Community Meal is still taking place.
You can enjoy a wonderful meal with friends and neighbors every Monday afternoon/evening at Zion Lutheran Church’s fellowship hall. The meals run from 4 to 6 pm and are served to you by some wonderful volunteers who take time out of their Mondays to create a great dining experience for you. They have served over 10,000 meals and are going strong. Come on out and enjoy a great meal.
If you or your group would like to volunteer to serve, they would love that too. Please call 651-775-3367.
Thanks for all of the donations to get clothing to the homeless again. We just delivered another big load to some very grateful Minnesotans in St. Paul. We do ask that you limit your future donations to warm weather clothing and socks and underwear. They just don’t have the room to store summer items such as shorts and T-shirts. And as always thanks for giving!
