Rush City bus driver sentenced
The Rush City Schools bus driver who drove her morning load of students into a ditch the day after Valentine’s Day last year is ordered to report to jail on the anniversary of the incident. Kara Ffrench, 60, was charged with two counts of DUI and when she entered her guilty plea earlier this year, one count was dismissed. Ffrench has been cooperating with court recommendations.
On November 6 Judge Jesse Seabrooks II sentenced Ffrench, of Harris, to 364 days with 349 stayed while she is under probation for four years. If she remains law abiding the jail term goes away. She will report for 15 days of recommended Sentence to Serve on February 15, 2025, one year to the day of her driving while impaired offense. There is a fine of $485.
A personal property video surveillance camera recorded the school bus going off the road and hitting a basketball hoop upright. Deputies found Ffrench in the bus when they responded and detained her for suspected alcohol impairment. Students were not hurt and were transferred to a waiting vehicle.
