Waffles and pizza - the best

In last week's edition of the Press we had a page dedicated to the Chisago Lakes Area Foundation grants given out at their annual Oktoberfest celebration.

In the photo section we (I Matt Silver) mislabeled two photos.  I labeled the Chisago Lindstrom Lakes Association as the Center Lakes Association.  The Center Lakes Association did not receive a grant this year.  I also labeled the Chisago Lakes Community Education as the Center Lakes Community Education.  As you can see I was on a roll with my mistakes.  I wholeheartedly apologize for any confusion I may have caused and apologize to both lake associations.

If you are looking for some place to enjoy a belly buster breakfast, boy are you in luck.  The Chisago Lakes Lions Club is once again hosting their super popular waffle feed on Saturday.  Held at the Chisago Lake Township Hall, located  north of downtown Lindstrom, the meal features Belgian waffles with toppings, sausage, milk, juice and of course coffee.  The feed runs from 8 to 11:30am.  The hall is located at 12400 316th Street, Lindstrom.

We are happy to have a new advertiser in our paper this week.  Papa Johns is now delivering to Chisago City.  The restaurant is under new ownership by John and June Christopherson.  My family loves Papa Johns pizza, why couldn’t they have purchased it four years ago when we lived in Chisago City.

We got invited by some friends to attend a watch party for the Packers Vikings game last Sunday. The party was at Osceola Lanes which has a super cool patio themed after a football field.  Not knowing what to expect as far as being outnumbered by a sea of green and gold, I decided to play it neutral and wear just a plain t-shirt.  Boy was I wrong, there had to be 85 percent Vikings fans.  Other than it feeling like 263 degrees outside, it was an interesting place to be for the game.  Bunch of Viking fans rubbing it into Packer fans’ faces in the first half, then the polar opposite in the second half.  In the end we came away with a victory….and a sunburn.

If you are a local politician or running for a position on a city council, town board, or a state office, we can help.  We will get your message out to the voters. We have a 97 percent saturation rate with our newspaper and our shopper on the weekend.  We can create your message for you if you choose.  This is the time to get your name in the voters’ minds.  Call us here at 651-257-5115 or email us at [email protected].

Just a note to all who have donated to the homeless shelter recently.  I got a call from my contact this weekend and she told me they delivered all of the women and children clothing to an anonymous battered women’s shelter and the shelter was overcome with gratitude.  The batch of men’s clothing will be delivered this week to a different shelter. Thanks so much for giving everybody!
