Chisago Lakes Invite
Chisago Lakes ran roughshod over the competition at the Wildcat Invite on Tuesday, September 12.
Not surprisingly, the girls team was led by freshman Annika Hall and senior Kaia Osmundon. The pair finished one-two in the race and paced the Wildcats to 25 team points, 13 clear of Hermantown in second place.
Hall finished the race in 18:50, the only competitor even under the 20:10 mark, so she was in a class all her own during the contest. Osmundon’s time was 20:14, which was almost a minute and a half clear of third place finisher Ferrah LaLone of Hermantown.
Ava Gellerman, Lauren Kowarsch and Arianna Husfeldt all put in top 12 finishes for the Wildcats as well, as they cruised to the win.
The boys were down top runner Biruk Killeen, but they still managed to fend off North Branch and Mahtomedi to win the home invite. They tallied 64 points, just ahead of North Branch’s 72 and the Zephyr’s 77.
Kaden Osmundson was the top finisher for Chisago Lakes, crossing the checkered line at 17:36 to finish in fourth place. Nolan Levasseur and Remy Larsen had a strong race together, with Levassuer finishing a bit stronger to come in ninth place while Larsen came in 10th. Cian O’Halloran came in 17th place for the Wildcats with a time of 19:13 and freshman Jack Evans wrapped up the win with a 24th place finish for the ‘Cats.
Roy Griak Invite
The elite Roy Griak Invitational at the University of Minnesota was held on Friday, September 20, and both Killeen and Hall had great showings. Hall ran in the Gold Division and finished in third place out of 300 runners with a time of 19:47. In fact, Hall put up the 30th best time in the whole meet, which featured nearly 1,000 high school runners from all over the country. Fourteen of the girls who finished in front of her were from states outside of Minnesota, so she had the 15th best time of any Minnesota girl in the race.
As a team, the Wildcats finished seventh in the Gold Division with 279 points. Large schools Woodbury and Centennial were the top two finishers in that division.
For the boys, their seventh place finish was paced by Killeen’s 30th place in the race. Osmundson and Larsen also had great showings for the boys. Osseo and Woodbury were the top finishers on the boys side.
