Goodbye Alice - you will be missed
If there is one thing I hate, it’s using this space to talk about friends and people in our community who have passed away. It’s not that I hate writing about them, rather it means I am writing about someone I have come to know and many times become close to. This week is no exception. Alice Nelson has sadly passed away. Many of our loyal readers will recognize the name as she was our food writer for what seemed like decades.
When I started here, Alice made a point to come in with goodies that she had made (and of course they were amazing) as a welcome gesture. We became fast friends and to be honest, she became my grandmother after mine passed away some time ago. Alice was always there as a friend and a spiritual support at times when I desperately needed one. She had such a great disposition which can be easily seen in any of her children. Alice will be missed dearly - and so will her caramel chocolate chip cookies.
Mark your calendars for Chisago City’s annual easter egg hunt. Because Easter is so late this year the hunt will be on April 12 at Paradise Park. The hunt begins at 2pm and will feature egg hunts for different ages, games, photos with the Easter Bunny, a bonnet and hat contest, and a coloring contest. I would say that since the hunt is so late in the year we are safe from having snow on the ground. But looking out the window watching snowflakes fly, you just never know.
We also have a few Easter Bingo’s taking place in our area. The American Legion is hosting theirs April 12 at the Loon in Chisago City and Taylors Falls Lions are hosting theirs Friday April 11 at Taylors Falls Community Center. Both ads are in this paper for more info.
