CL School Board report
Chisago Lakes School Board at their meeting April 17, approved the contract for Local 284 service staff, retroactive to July 1 2024 and running through the end of June 2026. The Human Resources Director commented that the total increase, with enhancement to insurance and other considerations, is 10.86 percent over the two years.
Staff covered in this contract are secretarial, paraprofessionals and clerical. They agree to 184 in-school days. Ten month employees work 219.
The wages for election judges, who will be working the three polling places for the May 13 bond referendum were also set. The pay for basic judge duties is $16 per hour and head judges are $18 per hour, which are set by state law.
District 2144 referendum voting is taking place at Chisago Lake Township Hall, Taylors Falls City Hall and Lindstrom Community Center. Balloting on May 13 opens at 7 a.m. and closes at 8 p.m.
Chisago Lake Township hall is the polling site for residents living in Chisago Lake Township, over to Wyoming on the west and all of the surrounding Chisago Lakes area.
Lindstrom Community Center/city hall is where residents of Lindstrom, Center City, Sunrise Township and Scandia cast ballots.
Taylors Falls City Hall is for residents of Taylors Falls, Amador, Shafer and Franconia.
Chisago Lakes is seeking voter approval for selling $63.7 million in debt to undertake a host of projects and update equipment etc.
There was no discussion about the balloting during the school board meeting.
The Board adopted the proposed school calendar for 2027-2028. For those making long range plans— the school year starts September 7. Last day in 2027 is June 8. The date for commencement has not been finalized.
The breaks are three days over Thanksgiving (November 24-26) and winter break is December. 21 to December 31. Spring vacation is March 6-10 2028.
The superintendent announced the next “Soup with the Sup” is May 21. The mid-day sessions are held at the Wildcat Community Center at the high school, and include a cup of soup and a presentation by Superintendent Brian Dietz on a timely topic. The first was held April 9.
And in other upcoming announcements, the junior-senior prom is this weekend, April 26. The theme is “Night on the Bayou” and the event is at Big Rock Creek events venue just across the river.
