Normally in community journalism “news” is when something is happening or about to happen; but in this case the news is a private school operating in Chisago County since 2015 is not going defunct.
Veritas Academy’s lending institution prematurely posted notice of a sheriff sale for the Chisago City campus of Veritas, according to co-director, Susie Brooks. She explained that the published July 17 sale of the Chisago City building was called off. Chisago City is one of two sites the academy utilizes, with chapel functions and some large group programs at the old Trinity Bible Church off County Road 14 and Kable Avenue, where Veritas originated and school academics take place at the Chisago City campus.
Veritas Classical Academy is indeed gearing up for the coming school year, Brooks explained. The premature foreclosure warning was the result of a misunderstanding and financial issues have been resolved.
The academy opened 1o years ago in Lent Township as a tuition based, Bible centered education option. The program expanded and the vacated Chisago City health services space was acquired as a second site, in fall of 2024. The school also had begun accepting international students and developed dormitory spaces.
Brooks says Veritas is enrolling now and its prep operations are full speed ahead for the coming year. She welcomes the public to call the school or e mail [email protected] to schedule an appointment for a visit and to learn more. Charter schools in Minnesota are funded with equivalent per pupil allocations that a public district receives; but Minnesota private schools are held to different standards ie: the school board is not a public entity and private schools have discretion over admittance. Private facilities do not qualify for public funding, and charge tuition. Veritas is accredited by the Minnesota Non-public School Accrediting Association.
