Relay for Life and street closure
Last weekend was a perfect weekend for Stacy Daze. The parade may have had the best weather I can remember. All of the events were very well attended and the fireworks show was fantastic. Thanks to all who worked so hard making sure Stacy Daze was so enjoyable for all of us.
The Chisago Lakes Relay for Life is gearing up for their 2025 Relay event. This year’s event is Friday, August 22 at Chisago Lake Lutheran Church in Center City.
Starting at 5 p.m., attendees can enjoy a variety of activities, including food trucks serving a range of options, a silent auction featuring local items, and yard games for all ages. The main program begins at 6 p.m., which is highlighted by an honorary survivor speaker who will share their personal cancer journey to inspire hope among attendees.
At dusk, the luminaries will be lit which total in the hundreds, lining Summit Avenue making for a beautiful scene.
Absolutely everyone is invited to come out for this moving event and to show support for those lost to cancer, those battling, and families of cancer patients. We will see you there.
Now that Akerson Street in Lindstrom is officially closed due to construction, the folks that have business along St. Croix Avenue want you to know they are very much open. That includes River Valley Dance, Ancona Title, and Carlson’s Amoco Station. Despite all the orange signage, you can get to the businesses by turning on Newell Avenue off of Olinda Trail south of Dairy Queen. Take a left on Broadway which will take you to all those businesses. Please support them while construction is underway.
I don’t know if or when these fires will either burn themselves out or be put out, but man the smoky air is getting old. I remember last year taking a boat ride and not being able to see across the lake. On occasion it is happening again this year. They tell us to stay inside when the quality is bad. Really? This is Minnesota - we already spend nine months inside because it’s 50 below zero.
