Wyoming city council has light meeting agenda
The city council for Wyoming met Wednesday instead of the usual Tuesday night due to a conflict with National Night Out. Minus member Dennis Schilling last week the session kicked off with the mayor administering an oath for newly-promoted Sergeant Jack Brietbach. He was to succeed Lance Beardsley as of August 11, who retired.
Council accepted the 2024 annual report which highlights Wyoming’s achievements, projects and initiatives in the year. The city enjoyed a rating upgrade by Moody’s investor services, there was a five year high in building permits pulled, the community events were all well attended and even police activity data is listed. The full report is on-line in the council agenda packet for August 6.
City Engineer Mark Erichson told the council the road improvements for 2024 have a few punch list items yet to finalize. The city expects a “preconstruction” meeting with the 2025 improvements contractor this week, for work that begins soon. Erichson commented that the “definitive’ schedule is usually worked out after the pre-con meeting.
The assessments for last year’s improvements will be declared after a hearing to be held this fall. Parcels involved will receive notice.
A massage therapist license was granted unanimously to Danielle Blackwell on Hazel Avenue. Her business is Silver Pine Bodyworks.
And, a five year agreement allowing police bodyworn cameras to be supplied and cloud storage for the data provided was adopted unanimously. The 10 cameras are $11,959 annually, with replacements at mid-point and at the end of the five years. Storage is “unlimited.” The existing Axon agreement contained limited storage and city staff told council Wyoming approached exceeding this in the prior contract.
City Administrator Robb Linwood mentioned the annual costs are reflective of what is expected for 2026.
The meeting wrapped up in 31 minutes and then the council convened in a closed door session to discuss how to proceed on a potential real estate deal. There was no action taken on the closed meeting topic, City Administrator Robb Linwood told the County Press later.
