Relay and Raffle this weekend

Well, Mother Nature wasn’t on the side of Ki Chi Saga Days, but when the weather let up, it was a full-go.  Despite the drizzle, people still came out in droves to Moberg and Paradise Parks over the weekend.  I did not go, but I hear the Lucha Libre wrestling at the Uncommon Loon was a great time.

I did see some of the live music in Moberg Park and it was great.

The parade took place despite all of the meteorologists warning of strong storms (which never developed).  People lined the sides of Old Towne Road to see the parade.

Thanks so much to Doris, the Parks Department, the City of Chisago and all of the many, many volunteers who made this year’s event so fun.

This week we have a couple of events for you to take in.

First on Friday evening in Center City, absolutely everyone is invited to come take part in the 2025 Chisago County Relay for Life celebration.  Held on the Chisago Lake Lutheran’s property, the event is a beautiful tribute to those (which is all of us) whose lives have been touched by cancer.  Almost every person these days knows of someone or has dealt with cancer in some form.  Many of us have lost loved ones to this horrible disease.

The Relay kicks off at 5pm with a silent auction and food trucks.  At 6pm the opening ceremony kicks off with a tribute to a local cancer survivor and good friend Bonnie Anderson.  At 7:45, the lighting of the luminaries takes place and everyone is invited to stroll and see all of the names of the people touched by cancer.  This is a come and go as you please event, so please stop by even if it’s for a short while.

Saturday, the Center Lakes Association invites any boat owners either living on the Centers or trailering to the landings to come out for the 2025 Raffle Run.  A huge fundraiser for the Center Lakes association, boats will travel from designated dock to dock to pick up their raffle tickets and even some surprise prizes at said docks.  The cost is $25 per person (remember it is a fundraiser) and you can register online by scanning the qr code on page 12 of this paper.  Winners will be announced (you do not have to be present) at Jakes on the Lakes at 5pm.  There will be a $300 first prize, a $200 second prize and a $100 third place price given.  Hope to see you out on the water!

Oh goody, the Minnesota State Fair starts this week.

That means Matt has to bite his tongue and head to Falcon Heights with a wallet full of money only to come home with zero (maybe a half eaten bucket of cookies) and be dead tired of the heat and crowds.  Negative I know, I am sorry. But there are only so many times you can see the ‘ShamWow’ presentation.
