Block party is this Saturday
We took part in the Center Lakes Association Raffle Run on Saturday. The event is held at five homes located on North and South Center. What a great event that was. The day was chilly, but everyone was still having a blast. Thank you so much to the host families for putting on quite the spreads. And a big thank you to the Association for creating such a fun, bonding event. Hopefully the donations were plenty, because the food and drinks sure were.
Once again I got duped into attending the state fair last Friday. I say duped because large hordes of people could be classified as one (yes there are a lot of them) of my phobias. The day began with the threat of mid morning storms which may have quelled the crowd attendance because it was just right. No lines for anything. But by the time the sun came out and the clock struck three, it was the pandemonium I expected. Long lines, pushy people and getting vape blown in my face. Thank goodness they sell beer at the fair (and lots of it). We did have some amazing foods, including my kryptonite, red velvet funnel cake. If you have not tried it, give it a whirl - you will be hooked.
On our shuttle home, we agreed that maybe next year we will come later because we saw some amazing bands at the various restaurants and bars in the evening.
I made it through yet another fair (sigh).
This weekend if you choose not to go to the great Minnesota get together, there is a fun option right here in our backyard. St. Bridget’s will be hosting the annual Block Party this Saturday from 6-10pm. All are invited to come out and listen to some great music, terrific food including a turkey dinner, brats, burgers and hot dogs as well as a beer tent.
There is a huge on-line silent auction to bid on and they will hold a $7,000 cash raffle. Admission is free and you only have to drive to Lindstrom.
Thank you all who came out to the Relay For Life Friday at Chisago Lake Lutheran church in Center City. This year was a nice reprieve from past relays, with cool temps. Thank you to all of the wonderful volunteers who worked their tails off creating the hundreds of luminaries that decorated the sidewalk and the lawn of the church in the evening. Thanks also to Gerry Vitalis for all of your hard work on the project.
