As you read this the calendar years has changed once again.  And, once again I would like to take this time to personally thank you. Thank you to our readers for keeping a small town newspaper relevant in an ever-changing industry.  Thank you for supporting the County Press and realizing the importance of “local” news reporting that you simply can not get anywhere else - including social media.  While we are currently in the works to expand our digital aspect of the County Press, there is something to be said for holding a newspaper in one’s hands.  

 Thank you also to the wonderful local businesses that continue to advertise in the Chisago County Press.  There is still great value in print advertising and getting your message out to local eyes.  

The internet has done its damage to newspapers across the country, but the one thing it can’t do is cover local news.  Google doesn’t attend city council meetings whose decisions affect you and I. Meta doesn’t take photos at local events or help promote upcoming events.  Robots and AI have not replaced us - not yet anyways.  

That was quite a Sunday snow event we had.  I am a fan of weekend blizzards because it gives me a reason to start a fire and do nothing but relax - except for the six times I went out to snow blow.  

Happy birthday to our editor Denise. She is literally the backbone of this newspaper and we are so grateful to have her.
