Sheriff’s officials have released the identity of the woman whose body was located in the multi-unit building on Redwing Avenue in Shafer, that burned Sunday, February 2.  Shirley Kay Utech, 63, was recovered about 7 a.m. Monday morning.  The hazardous status of the structure caused authorities to order it to be immediately demolished.  An investiagor from the state fire marshal office had been on the scene.

Fire departments were dispatched close to 10 p.m. Sunday night, along with Lakes Region EMS.  Firefighters were at the scene within five minutes.  Residents from the six-unit complex had been accounted for, except the victim.

The state fire marshal is being assisted by sheriff investigators and Shafer Fire Department.  No cause has been announced.
