Well I would love to be sitting here writing about the Vikings’ win over the Los Angeles Rams Monday night.  Once again, the week is Groundhog Day as it has been the last what seems like every year of my life.  I had no expectations heading into the game but to go out like that was enough for the consumption of four Rolaids for yours truly.  I do believe this team is on the right trajectory and our quarterback for this was hopefully standing on the sidelines.  With what little they went with into the season, compared to the 14 wins they had, I would say watching the games were very entertaining at least.

Saturday at the Wildcat Center you are invited to the Wedding Expo.  The event will run from 11am - 3pm and will feature all things wedding.  There will be wedding venues there to help you pick that perfect setting, wedding goods vendors to assist with the set-up and decorating, and food.  Put it on your calendar - we have some great wedding venues and services in our area - come and see.

Now that the cold has set in (really set in) our local ice rinks are open for skating.  Shafer just opened their rink for the season and Chisago City is also up and running.

I know this is late, but Thursday (today) there is a wonderful traditional Swedish dinner being held at Christ Lutheran Church Marine on the St. Croix. The dinner is lutefisk with meatballs, lefse, potatoes, beans and coleslaw and profits help fund the church’s mission projects.  Cost of the meal is $25.

Our conduit to the homeless that you all have donated to so generously is urgently looking for anything warm; sleeping bags, boots, hats, coats, and blankets.  The warming centers are overflowing with people and there's a great need. I know I constantly beg for donations and maybe we all have donated all we can, but if not, this is a great cause.  Your donations go directly (no resales) to the homeless in our own state.  As always, if you have a donation that you just can’t get here to the Press, by all means call me and I will come pick it up. Our phone number is 651-257-5115.
