This community is so amazing

Don’t ever let it be said this community isn’t compassionate.  For years you have been donating to help clothe the homeless in our state.  We have groups that spend their free time making quilts for those in need, we have some truly great food shelves in our county that are fortified by your giving.  Well, this past Christmas you outdid yourselves.  There has always been a Salvation Army red kettle at Brink’s Market during the holidays, which people are great, at throwing in money on their way in or out.  But this year, this year the kettle collected an amazing $18,856! Are you kidding me? I am at a loss for words.

Thank you so much to all who gave, this place is amazing.

If you turn to our Law Enforcement page you will see a photo of a truck that went through the ice on Saturday.  The truck was driving between Big and Little Green Lake in Chisago City and hit an ice riff.  As you can see it ended up in the lake.  As cold as it has been, a lake’s ice is never 100 percent safe.  At least this person was lucky and went through in a shallow spot in the lake.  I know it has been said a million times, but when driving on the lake keep windows down and doors unlocked.

I wrote about it last week, but remember to mark your calendars for Celebration of the Lakes which will be taking place on February 7-9 in the Chisago Lakes Area. The event this year will be bigger and better than ever.  The events are held on North Center and South Lindstrom Lakes as well at many businesses and churches in our community.  Just an FYI— the radar runs will take place on South Lindstrom Lake this year.  It has just about always been on North Center Lake in the past.  That means there is only one way to enter the lake and leave and that is at the landing on Shoquist Lane (across from Brink’s at Casey’s).  The landing will be super busy during the celebration with racers, attendees and the usual ice fishermen so please use caution.

We, along with some friends, did an escape room on Saturday afternoon in St. Paul.  We went with some teacher friends so we were feeling pretty good about our chances of escaping.  That deteriorated quickly and soon we were pushing the buzzer for help.  We did end up escaping but not by the help of yours truly.  If you ever wondered about trying one, I would highly encourage you to try. They are so fun.
