Summer is officially here and so are the summer town celebrations.   In a week, Karl Oskar Days will take center stage with all the bells and whistles.  This year’s celebration promises to be bigger and better than ever.  The celebration is shifting back to include Sunday.  We will have all the info next week for the fun festival, but in the meantime, please see pages 7 and 9 for info to plan your weekend in advance. They are bringing all-star wrestling back Sunday evening which will take place at the high school. The street dance will feature The Breakfast Club Band that plays hits from the 80’s to today.

Once again we will be hiding the snuff box, and once again thanks to the City of Lindstrom, Carlson’s Amoco, Deutschland Meats and the County Press, the prize for the lucky finder will be a whopping $1,000.

Clues will begin posting Wednesday at the businesses listed.  Find the silver snuff box and bring it to the Press to claim your prize!  The snuff box will only be hidden on public property, so please respect people’s private property.

Thanks so much to all who have recently donated to the homeless and battered women’s shelter.  We amassed quite a collection of socks and underwear this time which is exactly what they have requested.  You keep bringing them, we will keep delivering them.

This week is the Fourth of July week.  Meaning there will be quite the display of fireworks being set off locally.  As someone who lives on the lakes, we love taking in the show when weather permits.  The Sheriff’s Office reminds folks to be safe on the water and use common sense when drinking.

Besides Karl Oskar Days, our county will also be hosting the very popular Chisago County Fair.  The fair is held in downtown Rush City and runs from July 10-13.

This is a great fair and if your kids love animals you have to take them to the fair.  Thursday evening is the motocross races, Friday and Saturday feature the demolition derby and there is also a dance Saturday night featuring The Farmer’s Daughter.

Sunday at 3pm the County Fair Parade works its way through Rush City.

See page 8 for a detailed ad with all the events.
