Wannigan Days turn for fun!
What a wonderful weekend we had for Karl Oskar Days. Saturday the temps stayed comfortable and we had a nice cooling breeze for the parade. I spent a lot of time at Karl Oskar Days and there were people absolutely everywhere.
The snuff box hunt had more participants than we have seen in a long time. The increased prize and nice weather certainly help. Congratulations to Missy Kunzmann and her group of nine who dedicated their weekend to the hunt. Missy’s mom Deb has been taking part in the hunt for 30 years so congrats to her for finally overcoming that hurdle.
The parks were filled with vendors and people enjoying some great food truck fare.
The parade was great as usual with plenty of candy handed out.
Thanks to the city and the Karl Oskar Days committee for their hard work this year. A lot went into the planning of this event and it was pretty evident.
This weekend the Highway 8 celebrations head east to Taylors Falls. That’s where you will find Wannigan Days. A two town celebration with Taylors Falls and St. Croix Falls sharing in one fun event.
Wannigan Days 2025 kicks off with the popular car show held at the Taylors Falls Fire Department. Food and beverages will be available for purchase. Friday evening is bingo at the TF community center at 6:30pm. The Rockin Hollywoods take the stage downtown at 8pm.
Saturday there will be sidewalk sales in Taylors Falls and St. Croix Falls. Back at the Community Center, you can enjoy a lumberjack breakfast with all the fixings.
In Wannigan Park, next to the Drive-In you can take in a lumberjack show at noon and 2pm. Also in the park your kids will love a petting zoo, face painting and a ninja course. There is a city vs city tug-o-war between youth from St. Croix Falls and Taylors Falls around 2:30pm.
The Wannigan Days parade starts in St. Croix Falls and makes its way across the bridge and through Taylors Falls starting at 6pm. After the parade, Mojo Monks will play on the big stage at Romaynes at 8pm.
The evening caps off with fireworks over the river at dusk.
One really neat thing again this year is a free trolley that will take you to and from St. Croix Falls so you can enjoy both towns’ events and not have to worry about fighting for a parking spot. Thanks to the Taylors Falls Lions Club for sponsoring the trolley - what a great idea.
Just a reminder to put on your calendars, the Chisago Lakes Lions will be holding their very popular corn feed at the last Harmony in the park concert in Lindstrom on August 8. Come hungry!
