Easter seems so late this year
Every year since our kids were small we have saved to take a vacation. My wife and I grew up in households that never, and I mean never, took vacations. It just wasn’t feasible back then. We vowed to try our darndest to make sure our kids had a vacation even if it was someplace as simple as the north shore.
Last week we took a vacation to Jamaica near Negril. Sadly, the kids couldn’t join us but we were joined by two good friends. We have been to Mexico a decent amount of times, and always were cognizant of our surroundings and potential safety issues. Let me just say, that concern was not present in Jamaica. Maybe it has to do with everyone speaking English, but we encountered only friendly residents everywhere we went. We did get our share of grief from other vacationers (Canadians) but that was mostly in fun (mostly).
I would highly recommend a vacation to Jamaica. The scenery and the ocean are breathtaking.

It is odd to have Easter so late this year. I remember covering Chisago City’s Easter Egg Hunt in years past when there was snow on the ground. This year we will be mowing by Easter. I guess the good thing is it extends our chances to eat at some of these amazing fish frys taking place right now.
The Good Neighbors Club is partnering with the Uncommon Loon to raise donations for MN Food Share Month. You can drop donations off at the Loon until April 6. For a full list of donation needs, see page 6 in this paper.
