Lots of things to do this weekend

This weekend Mark and the crew at AAA Recycling will hold their first recycling event.  The event runs Saturday from 8am to 2pm in the lower parking lot of Chisago Lake Lutheran Church in Center City.  This is your chance to get rid of clutter that has been bugging you all winter.  There is a small charge for most stuff and we have an ad on page six listing what items are accepted.  They do accept cash, checks and even Venmo.   If I could make a suggestion, get there early.  The lines tend to get longer as the day progresses.

Thanks to all of you who have already sent your blue renewal cards in.  The early response with our coupon over the last month was a massive success.  If you have not mailed your blue subscription card in yet, simply mail your check with the card to PO Box 748 Lindstrom MN 55045 or drop it off here at  the Press.  As always, thanks so much for reading.

Chisago City reminds you to mark your calendars on May 17 for their annual Ojiketa Holistic Expo.  Held at Ojiketa Regional Park (duh) you will find 15 wellness vendors with free classes running all day, free lectures  and even a lunch for purchase.  See page 8 for a list of events and a list of vendors. The event runs from 11am to 5pm and admission is free.

Taylors Falls holds its cleanup day also May 17.  The lower lot at city hall is the collection site for recyclables, etc. Open 8 to noon.  More details later.

This Sunday the Chisago City Fire Department invites you and your family to their annual free pancake breakfast.  The event is held at the Fire Hall on Karmel Avenue next to Lakeside Elementary School,  and runs from 8am to 1pm.  See you there.

Speaking of food opportunities, the Taylors Falls Fire Department is hosting their ultra popular smelt fry on Saturday afternoon.  The fry begins at 4pm and runs until 7:30pm.  This is their 80th year serving smelt.  The event is at the Fire Hall at 637 First Street in Taylors Falls.  They do offer to-go containers if you want to take yours home and watch the Derby.

The folks who run Let’s Go Fishing invite everyone to the fundraiser pancake breakfast Saturday morning.  From 8am to 11am at Main Street Church in North Branch. Enjoy a great meal along with a raffle for a child’s atv.  There are hundreds of silent auction items. Money raised supports Let’s Go Fishing providing trips for seniors, veterans and those living with disabilities.
